< Back Natalie Higdon natalie.higdon@gmail.com https://www.nataliehigdon.com/ Natalie Higdon is a comedy writer originally from Memphis, Tenn., where the top tourist attraction is a pyramid-shaped Bass Pro Shop. Her mother is a romance novelist who took her along to writing conventions instead of paying for summer camp. This is where Natalie learned foundational narrative skills like how to best describe a man’s “member” in prose and avoid getting sued by an ex who bears a striking resemblance to your lead villain. After graduating from The University of Memphis with a degree in Journalism (and completing an etiquette class at Dillard’s called White Gloves & Party Manners much earlier), Natalie set out to be a screenwriter and more importantly, move out of her hometown where she never quite fit in (see: pyramid-shaped Bass Pro Shop, above). These experiences inspired her love for writing darkly comedic stories with heart, about fish-out-of-water protagonists who are on a journey to discover and love who they truly are. Natalie’s screenplays have placed in competitions including the Academy Nicholl Fellowships and Austin Film Festival. She recently completed the 2024-2025 Paramount Writers Mentoring Program where she was mentored by Carly Berg and Sean Kotzin.
