Stephen Barber has been selected for ISA’s Development Slate for his feature screenplay, MEAT WAGON (Thriller/Horror). On the darker side of storytelling, Stephen’s provocative thriller/horror explores identity, desperation, and the psychological consequences of being discarded, transforming the seemingly ordinary world of door-to-door sales into a disturbing look at human nature.

His selection for ISA’s Development Slate represents more than recognition of past achievements. It signals an exciting opportunity for a distinctive emerging voice whose stories challenge audiences to confront uncomfortable truths and puts him and his writing on a distinguished short list of ISA’s top-tier writers.

In conjunction with this recent news, Stephen Barber’s feature MEAT WAGON is also included in the 2026 DEAD LIST with The Stunt List, and has been flagged as “in consideration” with industry mandates via the International Screenwriters’ Association. This script, along with other works Stephen has written, has earned recognition from multiple prestigious competitions and organizations, including Final Draft’s Big Break, PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, the Austin Film Festival, and Script Pipeline. He has also been named among the Top 50 writers in Roadmap Writers’ JumpStart Competition and ISA’s Fast Track Fellowship.

Logline: With one week to save his life from collapse, a volatile man takes a job knocking on doors, only to realize the real danger isn’t rejection… It’s what he becomes once they let him in.
