Richard Dane Scott

Richard Dane Scott’s professional screenwriting career began in 2013 with the family film MY DOG THE CHAMPION, starring Lance Henriksen. Since then, he’s had 9 other features produced, including the recent animated A TOOTH FAIRY TALE, starring the voices of Fran Drescher, Jon Lovitz, and Vivica A. Fox. His comedy spoof AVENGERS OF JUSTICE: FARCE WARS starring Amy Smart and Simon Rex was featured in Variety and thankfully disappeared before anyone could see it.

As an Asian-American, Richard was honored to be on the diverse writing staff of the TV series 5TH WARD – an hour-long drama depicting the struggles of two African-American and Asian-American families, produced by Dominique Telson and B.E.T. founder Robert L. Johnson. Richard has also been an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl’s Fellowship quarter-finalist three times and his family feature screenplay SIERRA SHINES scored a Perfect 10 on the The Blacklist, prompting a telephone conversation with prolific producer Cassian Elwes.

With his modest career, Richard has shown that he can take existing I.P. (Soul Man, The Last Starfighter) and reboot them for today’s audiences. He has also adapted two books (The Quest for Serendipity, Dreaming of the Majors) into feature length screenplays, and currently has three TV pilots in development. Recently, he’s been featured on the annual Stuntlist and can now be seen and heard as a frequent panelist for the Austin, El Paso, and San Antonio film festivals.
