Jorge Molina was born and raised in a suburb of Mexico City, and graduated with a BFA in Writing for Film and Television from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He has worked extensively inside the film festival circuit as a programmer in places like Outfest, the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF), Frameline, NewFest, Sundance and Tribeca.
He wrote and executive produced the short film “Muy Gay Too Mexicano”, which was acquired by HBO Max and premiered on the platform in the fall of 2021, and is the creator and showrunner of the award season murder mystery scripted podcast "Just to Be Nominated". As a critic, his work has been published in outlets like The AV Club, the Advocate, Vulture and The Cut, and he currently has a weekly film retrospective column in Queerty called "A Gay Old Time.
