Charise Sowells
Charise Sowells graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and Orange County School of the Arts with honors and awards. She has worked as a Creative Consultant on multiple Walt Disney Imagineering projects and written 10+ episodes for COCOMELON, WONDER PETS: IN THE CITY, BLIPPI, and VIDA THE VET. In addition to the work she does on other people’s projects, Charise has an expansive portfolio of original IP for more mature audiences including but not limited to: an LGBT BIPOC holiday rom-com feature, an LGBT BIPOC musical feature, an international thriller feature, and a half-hour dramedy pilot. Many of her scripts have placed in an array of contests and ranked high on Coverfly for multiple years.
A full length play she wrote, (562), was adapted into a feature film. Her one-act play called AN OCEAN IN MY SOUL had a sold out world premiere at the Santa Monica Playhouse followed by a successful encore run. It is now published. During the height of the COVID pandemic she wrote, produced, and directed a short film titled SUN TEA which won 18 awards in several film festivals across the globe. And a PSA she made about underage sex trafficking was added to Channel Austin's rotation.
Charise is also a singer-songwriter who has toured the US in a band, played internationally, and collaborated with a variety of artists on recordings. She is a Grammy voter and an ASCAP member. She also writes children’s books that she hopes to get published one day.
