Comedy Pilot Sober Living Gets Drunk on Contest Wins

Kasi Brown & Brandon Walter's female-forward comedy pilot, SOBER LIVING, has moved on to a quarterfinalist (Top 30) placement in the 2026 Script Pipeline TV Writing Competition. This script is a three-time finalist for PAGE Awards, Final Draft Big Break and Roadmap Top Tier. It's ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK meets DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES set on one NIMBY neighborhood block.
LOGLINE: When a sober living facility moves into a 'nice' neighborhood, a closeted housewife makes it her mission to kick out the addicts looking for a fresh start—especially the hot lesbian rocker who is making her life hell in more ways than one.
Kasi Brown and Brandon Walter are an LA–based screenwriting duo specializing in high-concept comedies rooted in the spirit of ’90s blockbuster filmmaking. They met doing improv at UCB, bonding over a shared love of movies that turn everyday struggles into larger-than-life comedy.
Kasi grew up LGBTQ+ in Kansas, where humor became her way of navigating life as an outsider—a perspective she still brings to her work, both on the page and as an EMT. Brandon, a big-brained computer nerd from Indiana, cracked jokes to avoid getting pounded by corn-fed meatheads. These experiences fuel their love of comedies where underdogs in outrageous situations get to come out on top. They channeled this sensibility into their award-winning sketch comedy web series MOTHER APPROVED and feature GONE DOGGY GONE, both of which they co-wrote and directed.
Kasi and Brandon write bold, laugh-out-loud comedies that spotlight diverse human experiences blown up into popcorn-ready worlds—throwbacks to when movies felt bigger, brighter, and just plain fun.
In addition to their recent contest run, they are also CineStory finalists, Launchpad Top 50, Austin Semifinalists, and were selected to the Pre-Rainbow Pages WGA Mentorship Program and the Grey List 2026.
Fun fact: they both still have their BLOCKBUSTER cards.
